Founded in 1861, the school is in the centre of Chewton Mendip Conservation Area next to the beautiful Norman church and set in attractive grounds overlooking the Mendip countryside. The school consists of two buildings, one Victorian and one built in 1992, which contains two classrooms and a large, well equipped sports/assembly hall. The Victorian section includes the library, ICT suite, resources area, three classrooms and administration rooms. The school has plenty of space for outdoor sport and recreation, comprising a sports and playing field, three playgrounds, a heated outdoor swimming pool and a nature conservation area. A 'range' of after-school activities is offered and includes gym, dance, netball, choir, cricket, football and cookery.

Wells is a cathedral city in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. Although the population recorded in the 2001 census is 10,406, it has had city status since 1205. It is the second smallest English city in terms of area and population after the City of London. Wells is not part of a larger city, and so is described as being England's smallest city.
The name Wells comes from the three water wells, one in the market place and two within the grounds of the Bishop's Palace and cathedral. There was a small Roman settlement around the wells, but its importance grew under the Saxons when King Ine of Wessex had a church built in 704, around which the settlement grew. Wells became a trading centre and was known for cloth making. In the 19th century, transport connections improved - there were stations on three different railway lines. There aren't any stations or railways left in Wells.
The cathedral and history have made Wells a tourist destination - there are lots of gift shops and cafés. The city has a variety of sporting and cultural venues and houses several schools including The Blue School, a state coeducational comprehensive school originally founded in 1654 ( where most of Chewton pupils go after completing Year 6 ) and the private Wells Cathedral School, which was founded in 909 and is one of the five established musical schools for school-age children in Britain. The historic architecture of the city has also been used as a location for several films and television programmes, like "The Libertine" with Johnny Depp, "The Golden Age" with Cate Blanchett and " Hot Fuzz" ( a comedy which is gruesome in places ).
